Each chapter of Amistades features three grammar concepts (gender and number of nouns) related to their functional uses (identifying people, places, objects, and events). Grammar presentations include simple explanations, definition of standard grammar terminology (infinitive, mood, number, etc.), and charts and illustrations to reinforce concepts. The pair and small group activities found in the textbook reinforce grammar concepts and language functions through communicative practice. The Diario de actividades provides opportunities for individual drill and practice. Contrastive concepts (ser/estar, para/por, etc.) are explained and practiced in the Expansión section of the Diario de actividades.
