Amistades is rich with vocabulary. The active vocabulary for each chapter is represented by a simple visual aid (PowerPoint) and contextualized within a script that tells a story. Instructors use the visual to emphasize the active vocabulary as they either read (or ad lib) the script or play the recorded version from the audio CD. Regionalisms and receptive vocabulary are introduced in reading materials and marginal annotations. Active vocabulary is reinforced orally through pair and small group activities in the textbook, while the Diario de actividades focuses on reinforcement through individual writing and listening practice. A comprehensive vocabulary list concludes each chapter of the textbook.
