Written practice is used throughout the Amistades program to reinforce listening, reading, and speaking skills, as well as vocabulary, culture, and grammar. Composition skills are taught by means of a process approach in the both the textbook and the Diario de actividades. The process takes students through idea generation, drafting, self- and peer-editing, and final revision. The writing strategies presented in each chapter of the textbook help students focus on organization, clarity, and other important issues. The Mi diario section of the Diario de actividades provides free-writing practice related to the chapter theme.
